BYOB or “Bring Your Own Bible” started out with a group of CMG doctors and medical students in 2007. We felt a need to have a weekly space to share our stories and our challenges in living out our vocation as doctors and doctors-to-be. BYOB exists simply be a constant space available to Catholic doctors, medical students and friends to meet this need and to create community as we pray and draw strength from God and each other.
We meet in a central location to be accessible to all regardless of the location of one’s workplace.
Our meetings usually last one and a half to two hours; and we journey together through various books of the Bible or teachings of the Church through reflection and prayer. The group size varies each week, ranging from 6 to 15, depending on various factors and times of the year. Our Spiritual Director is Fr David Garcia.
If you are a medical student, doctor, or working/studying to work in the hospital/clinic setting (pharmacists, physiotherapists etc), and are Catholic and/or is comfortable with the Catholic Prayer tradition, please email us at events@cmg.org.sg.
QUOTATIONS.
“I thought the Thursday sessions were an opportunity for fellowship and retreat, from the routine of our busy lives, for a group of medical workers who believe in Catholic-Christian principles to share their thoughts and reflect on God’s word in the bible. :)”
– NS Med Officer
“For me..it’s a warm gathering of friends each week..to give thanks for everything He’s provided.. and to help each other along on this long journey of faith.”
– Final Year Med Student
“BYOB allows me to journey with my fellow brothers and sisters in the medical profession through prayer, scripture reading, discussion and songs. It is a great time to unwind and enjoy the company of the wonderful people there and a time to share what goes on in the week and our hopes for the future.”

1. JCI Audits – Jesus Christus Imperat
“Jesus Christ Imperat” (JCI) which also means “Jesus Chirst Rules”. Audits is derived from the term “Auditus” means a “hearing/listening”.
JCI Audits sessions is a time for Junior doctors to come together for sessions to listen and learn, and to share our struggles as junior doctors.
No matter how poor we may feel our faith formation to be, all are welcome, to come and listen, share and learn, and we hope that everyone comes away with something.
